Homecomings from traveling I think should always be bittersweet. Missing your family, your friends, and in my case, my chucks, chicken salt and good westernized asian food (Seriously guys - the best asian we had in New Zealand was from a fish and chip shop. No Joke). But then there are the things you leave behind, snowy mountains, baby dolphins, and truly amazing and awesome people.

Mandy I'm looking at you :) |
Flying back to Sydney was great, until we were reminded of how crappy Sydney's Airport is with our hour long line to customs (to be clear that's not an hour to get through customs, but an hour to get to the point where they put you in the line for customs.) However beyond the never ending queue was much hugging and love and breakfast and walking out into 30+ degree weather! Oh Australia - our home country, the great southern land, the....dear god! Is it really THAT hot??? Wow this is a LOT of people! Has our accent ALWAYS sounded like that?
On one hand I am so happy to see family, to make plans to see friends, to know my way around town. On the other hand, did I mention its friken hot! On the other hand no smelly dorm rooms. On the other hand, no awesome dorm mates. On the other hand free laundry. On the other hand, I miss backpacking already! I love my friends, I love my family, I love seeing them and catching up on the news and cuddles and love. But honestly, I really miss the road, I miss not knowing what lies ahead, whats around the next bend, whether it will hail, or snow, or have hurricane winds coincidentally whilst watching movies about the Apocalypse. I miss backpacking, and the feeling I get of home while on the road. So while I am happy to be home again, I cant help but count the days (9!) before we are off again.
