Updates! Updates! We have made some pretty big changes to the workings of our little website. With our current method of slow but steady savings and purchases, major updates of any kind are well...major. Most noticeably, we have updated the big banner image hovering over our humble blog like a giant welcoming....hovering thing. While many, myself included, were fond of the previous header, we've changed it to something more in line with our original vision for the logo of our site.
Our original intention for our image involved the silhouette of a park bench, with two pairs of feet dangling from it. This started as a reference to the Waiting for Godot half of our title (the Didi and Gogo first half, for those not entirely up-to-date with absurd Beckett plays), while including subtle suggestion of moving on, to keep it clear that this is a travel blog about travelling and all the travelling we want to do.
With this in mind, we went out today to our local park, camera in hand, with the aim to at least get some photos to use as a basis for designing a banner that was new, fun and kind of pretty.
When we arrived back home, Tash dove for the computer in a flurry of technobabble and maniacal giggling. Some cropping, editing, tweaking and I'm sure voodoo sacrifice later, our new banner was ready, and is presented above for your viewing pleasure!
The other less noticeable, but in my mind more exciting change to our website is a real domain name. Thanks to the good ol' people at GoDaddy.com we have our very own web address, rather than being another blogspot.com (Also the new address is MUCH shorter - didiandgogo.net rather than didiandgogoexcellentadventure.blogspot.com). We initially wanted a .com or .com.au, but all of the available combinations were taken...or ridiculously expensive, so we very happily settled for the (incidentally much cheaper) .net instead.
With this new domain name also comes a selection of our very own didiandgogo.net email addresses! Unfortunately, right at the moment we are suffering from technical difficulties, but we will be sure to let you know the minute they're up and running properly!
And when Tash just caught wind of the words 'technical difficulties', her face lit up at the prospect of having techno-problems to techno-solve with the techno-help of her techno-wizards or however it works. (I'm not a techie. Shut up.) So, lo and behold, we have working Didi and Gogo email addresses! Which is cool even for a non techie!
